The mission of the IRC is to help people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future.
Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC has become one of the world’s largest humanitarian organizations. We work in over 40 crisis-affected countries and in more than 28 cities across the United States. We arrive at the onset of crisis and aim to stay as long as we are needed. We also resettle refugees welcomed into new countries, helping them to success and thrive. The IRC’s program areas include: safety, health, education, economic well-being, empowerment, and women and girls.
