The Sustainability@VMware Fund will always provide a curated list of nonprofits that tackle critical dimensions of sustainability and conservation with their global projects. We intend to uphold that mission statement while rotating the specific nonprofits in order to capture moments of community engagement during Earth month or other company-wide sustainability awareness campaigns. Feel free to bookmark this fund! In this launch, we hope to provide an access point to anyone who would like to donate towards sustainability, but is overwhelmed by the diversity of issues and number of nonprofits. These four nonprofits were chosen by surveying the Atlanta and Palo Alto Sustainability Ambassadors. Each nonprofit works globally on issues that affect us all and have been vetted by Sustainability in the Office of the CTO. Ensemble members unite to protect and conserve our oceans

Save our beautiful oceans! I've watched reefs die in my backyard, and I want my children to enjoy them in the future!

World Oceans Day, recognized annually on June 8, was established by the United Nations to both celebrate the beauty and mystery of the ocean, as well as to promote public interest in protecting, preserving, and sustainably managing its resources. The 2021 theme is “The Ocean: Life & Livelihoods.” The ocean covers 70% of the planet and produces at least half of the available oxygen; it is home to the vast majority of earth’s biodiversity, is a major source of food for billions around the world, and is a key driver of global economies. However, 90% of big fish populations are depleted, more than 50% of coral reefs are destroyed, and we are taking more from the ocean than can be replenished. Through a single donation to the Fund, you can support multiple organizations' initiatives working to protect our oceans and the life within them. Join us is supporting organizations that help significantly reduce marine pollution, protect marine and coastal ecosystems, and work towards the conservation and sustainable use of the sea.
