Malaria is a disease found in hundreds of countries worldwide, and over 3 billion people are at risk.
Preventing the childhood Malaria Death Project is an initiative to protect children, particularly those under five, from the devastating impact of malaria in the Democratic Republic of Congo. For these vulnerable children, their ongoing fight against malaria does not only have broader implications for their long-term development, and it is a matter of life or death.
This project provides families with malaria prevention education, lifesaving medicines, and effective and scientifically proven vector control technologies such as insecticide-treated mosquito nets. The goal is to protect 200,000 fewer children. Five years against malaria-related deaths and disabilities through a combination of interventions: in addition to universal coverage net bed distributions, activities include training of community health workers. This training improves knowledge and practices for malaria prevention and treatment and partnerships with radio stations to disseminate messages on malaria prevention and control practices in DRC. We work to save lives, defeat poverty, an also provide tools for sustainable change to people most vulnerable to hunger, violence, and disease.
