Sewa International Inc
Sewa is planning to distribute 10,000 "essential kits" -- that include food, basic medicine, masks, sanitizers, etc, across the nation, through a network of organizations, and serve 1,000 orphanages and old-age homes across major cities. They are also planning to ship 200 oxygen concentrators in India.
Care
India has been struck by a deadly second wave of COVID-19. Bihar, one of India’s poorest and highest population areas, is surging with new cases and deaths. More than 2 million people over the past two weeks have been diagnosed. The health system is overwhelmed. CARE is activating a temporary COVID-19 facility in Patna with beds, ventilators and medical staff (approximately $150,000 for two months). They are establishing five temporary health facilities in highly populated districts of Bihar (one of the poorest and underserved areas of India), with enough health professionals, testing labs and supplies to concentrate on the most critical cases. The physical infrastructure is in place through the government. CARE will provide high-throughput 200 bed facilities with oxygen support to each of the five facilities along with 24/7 treatment of all patients by qualified doctors and nurses whose deployment CARE will fund. Donations to CARE will help provide essential hospital services, more health workers, additional beds, oxygen supply, and much more.
Center For Disaster Philanthropy
The COVID-19 coronavirus was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11. People across the United States and around the world are now contemplating what the long-term impacts will be on their personal lives, their communities and their livelihoods.
In March, the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP) launched the CDP COVID-19 Response Fund to support containment, response and recovery activities for those most affected and for the responders.
Americares
To address the devastating second wave of COVID-19 in India, Americares is focused on strengthening COVID-19 health facilities through the provision of critical equipment and supplies, protecting frontline health workers with PPE and disinfectants, and preparing communities through the provision of masks as well as through COVID-19 awareness and vaccine education. Partnering with corporations and foundations, Americares has supported ten states and local governments. Additionally, Americares is mobilizing support to address the two major aftereffects of COVID-19 namely, mental health and poor nutrition. They are working to bridge the nutrition deficit due to the lock down situation among pregnant women, lactating mothers and children below five years. Americares is also working towards development and dissemination of digitized educational content to address mental health issues in partnership with India’s leading mental health specialists.
